Caption: This chart shows floating weekly maximum water temperatures in Knownothing Creek during the summers of 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. Notice that the temperatures in Knownothing remained below the level stressful for Salmonids all six years and the mouth of Knownothing provided a cold water refugia for Salmonids during the heat of mid summer. The data gap in July of 2001 was due to technical difficulties. Data were collected from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which anchored in moving water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by students at the three river schools, community volunteers, and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council. Click on Picture* to see photographs of Hobotemp sites.
