The first time period category includes data prior to 1950. The different colored bars represent tons of surface erosion per decade, while the total length of the bars show the total mass of sediment resulting from harvested areas during the period of pre-1950 to 2000. Sediment volumes are highest in the 1960's and 1970's reflecting the high levels of timber harvest in those decades.
